Weighted blankets, also known as gravity blankets, are heavy blankets filled with plastic pellets or micro glass beads that are used for therapeutic purposes. Usually between five and 30 pounds, the added weight is designed to produce a calming effect when placed on the body, through deep pressure stimulation.
The best weighted blanket for you largely depends on your personal comfort and your body weight. Weighted blankets are between 12 to 20 pounds for adults. For optimal comfort, we recommend using the weight closest to 10% of your body weight, which we consider as the ideal weight. If you’re in between weights, we recommend rounding up to the higher weight — this ensures the gravity weighted blanket creates a hugging feeling through gentle pressure on your body to help you fall and stay asleep.

Weighted/Gravity Blankets for Children
If you’re buying a weighted blanket for a child, take note of their size, weight, and age. Weighted blankets should not be used for children under two years of age and a doctor should be consulted if you’re buying a blanket for a kid that is under five years of age.

If you’re picking out a weighted blanket for a couple or for you and your sleeping partner, it’s important to note any height and weight differences.
For example, if you weigh 130 pounds and your partner weighs 200 pounds, the weighted blanket you choose may be too heavy for you and too light for your partner.
